Tiger is a large orange cat who has lived with my wife, Thu, and I for 2 or so years now. He's gentle with the other two lady cats he shares our home with. He likes nothing more than ice cream induced summer afternoon comas and head scratches from friends and strangers alike. He even gets along with the dog, a not very ferocious Pitbull named Ava. Somehow, they have come to an understanding that they both live here and that's not going to change anytime soon, might as well get along. But Tiger has a wild side, a secret side. Sometimes, he has to go do Tiger things.
It’s not at all uncommon for him to disappear for a while, an hour here an afternoon there and more recently a whole day. Thu will ask me in all honesty, “where did Tiger go?” as if we had a nice chat before he left. I answered truthfully, he went to go do Tiger things. Now, to be honest, your guess is as good as mine. I have no idea where he goes or what he does But I have come up with a theory. Somewhere close by Tiger has located a magical portal that transports him through space-time all over this world and even beyond. He goes on crazy cat adventures we can barely imagine. In addition to an unspoken agreement with Ava the dog, he seems to understand being gone makes his human parents worry very much. He always comes home. (Yes, he is fixed.)
Thus far, he has not shared his adventures with me. If he has told his younger sisters here, they either don't buy it or just are not adventurous enough yet to go with him. Dido, Ava the dog. Tiger has not told me but I can picture broad colorful fields full of mice to chase, an endless buffet of fish, milk and ice cream along with naps under clear blue skies and warm sunshine. Who knows, he may even get head scratches from Roman soldiers. So when your cat disappears for a little while, try not to worry. Sometimes, they gotta go do cat things. Me? If Tiger tells me what's up, I'll be sure and pay a visit to a psychologist.
